Morphologically a herpes-like virus. Very labile, can be stabilized at -60°C in the presence of 10% DMSO. Antigenically unrelated to GP salivary gland virus, ATCC VR-682 (Hsing, G.D. et al., Infect. Immun. 13: 926, 1976).
