Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): BglII--6.6, 4.4 (doublet), 3.0, 2.0; EcoRI--5.2, 4.6 (doublet), 2.3 (doublet), 1.2; PstI--7.6, 5.8, 4.2, 1.7, 1.0; HindIII--11.0, 4.4, 3.6, 1.2. The insert contains the following restriction sites (approximate kb from the end distal to the vector HindIII site [nt of the published sequence]): HindIII--0.4, 4.8, 8.6; EcoRI--0.4 [42], 1.9 [1190], 7.4; BglII--1.5 [797], 3.6, 7.8. The gene product is homologous to ORF3 of Paracoccus denitrificans. The sequenced portion (the 1.87 kb BamHI/XbaI fragment) also contains an open reading frame transcribed in the opposite orientation. |
