BI421 is a spontaneous mutant isolated from a B. subtilis alpha-DB16 (hbioR) X B. subtilis RL1 (trpC2) conjugation. It is resistant to 2 ug/ml homobiotin (hbioR) and 10 ug/ml alpha-methyl methionine (ammR).
